Tim Hester Photography is owned and operated by Tim Hester – a fully qualified professional photographer with well over 10 years experience in the photographic industry, having covered nearly every photographic discipline imaginable.
Some of Tim’s work has included commercial advertising, photo-journalism, industrial and stock photography. In addition to photography, graphic design and website design work has become an ever more important part of Tim’s work.
For the last few years the real focus of Tim Hester Photography has been to build an extensive and diverse portfolio of stock photography and vector designs. This forms the vast majority of Tim’s work currently.
On average, Tim aims to produce around 100 new stock images per month. This may not sound like much, but when you consider the time spent in creative development, planning, shooting, processing and keywording, to finally uploading these images you begin to understand why having a few thousand stock images currently online is a considerable achievement.

After developing an interest in photography fairly early in life, Tim soon entered and won several significant folio-based photographic competitions in Melbourne. The next step toward a career in professional imaging came when he won a full scholarship to study photography at a prestigious South Melbourne based photography college.
During the subsequent two years of full-time training he further developed and focused his skills in a wide range of imaging disciplines, before receiving a Distinction with Honours upon graduating. During this time commercial photography in the advertising world drew much of Tim’s attention and it was in this early period that Tim Hester Photography was started as a business.
International travel soon became a major influence in Tim’s photographic life and helped him to produce an extensive range of stock images from exotic locations around the globe, including Tibet, Mexico, Nepal, India, New Zealand and Canada. These remote travel images formed the main focus of his exhibition work and soon formed the founding part of his ever-growing photographic stock portfolio.
The inherent challenges of capturing quality stock images on the fly while travelling helped Tim to develop a journalistic style of candid photography that soon saw him take up photojournalism as his mainstay for years. He has since worked in different parts of the country as a respected photojournalist, either freelance or on-staff for newspapers under the Fairfax and News Limited umbrella’s. Now much of Tim’s focus is on expanding his online stock portfolios in world-leading stock libraries.
